Tragedy and Triumph. A long battle against centuries of oppression and gender roles with optimism for a better tomorrow.
I come from a Hispanic background where gender roles are the norm and being anything than straight or straying from your biological gender is taboo and outcasts. I have committed taboo. I used cut up newspaper and magazine articles and titles relating to the issues in discovering my identity as woman. While I was searching for articles I cut out phrases I found meaningful and organized them to make them stand out. The most important one to me is a title I cut out and used for her neck. It reads "This is my last fight".
